How Death Can Come Without Notice - 1486 Words
In this paper, I will define the different scenarios and ways that death can come without notice, and the irony can be subjected in books, poetry, and articles that we read every day. In the short stories that I have read there is always defining aspect of whatââ¬â¢s coming next. However it is always changed by something that you have read at the beginning of the story where it has actually told you exactly what was going to happen but only in so many words. When you are dealing with poetry, it is always a different setup you have to read the poem in depth to really know whatââ¬â¢s going on in the poem as a whole. It can start off with it being nice and settle and even end the same way and leave you thinking about what is next or whatââ¬â¢s going toâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As the story goes on everything is going on just like a regular ride would go from Atlanta, Ga. The grandmother was sitting between the two oldest children who really didnââ¬â¢t want to be sitting in the back with their grandmother. As the ride progresses on and on the children begins to get restless and so does the grandmother. The story is passed on Connorââ¬â¢s Christian beliefs and his moral code, and it is definite in this story as you go through the entire story. A moral code is a part of the behaviors and beliefs of that the people in the story will abide by for fulfilling lives. The feeling of being a lady is one of the biggest concepts that the grandmother goes by. At the first glance of the Misfitââ¬â¢s code is misguided, itââ¬â¢s actually the code that the grandmother goes by that proves to be inconsistent and flimsy. The grandmother finds herself unable to pray during a crisis even though she is a devote Christian. This begins to question the power and divinity of Jesus. However, the Misfitââ¬â¢s moral code seems to be rather consistent and strong from his experience with being a convicted criminal. Punishments and crime will always go hand in hand b ecause in the end, it doesnââ¬â¢t really matter. The ending of the story and the tragedy that has happened was sought out from the very beginning of the story, and it all went to demise when she realized who

Differences in Programming Language Free Essays
Answer: The significance of the programming knowledge for the company is very great since the correct choice will ensure proper connectivity, accessibility, ease of maintenance and the complexity of the software (Vine, 2005). Certain broad requirements can be obtained from the transcript of the conversation between Hugh McBride of McBride Financial Services and Abram LaBelle of Smith Systems Consulting who discussed the computer network needed for McBrideââ¬â¢s planned offices. By programming language, we mean the set of instructions that are written and called a program and the computer processor carries out the instructions. We will write a custom essay sample on Differences in Programming Language or any similar topic only for you Order Now The significance of the programming is felt on the development and maintenance cost, ease of use, easy availability of the application from different points, speed of access, features that can be provided in the application. A programming language such as Visual Basic is quite easy to learn and implement but the language does not allows for complex computations such as forecasting, gathering information, creating reports, etc. To perform complex operations, algorithms would have to be used and programming languages such as C++, C#, and others are very much suited. But the cost of development and maintenance would be significantly higher. These languages are called as OOPS ââ¬â Object Oriented Programming Languages and they write the code around the data that has to be processed. In a majority of the cases, OOPS applications run on dedicated Intranets or WANs. The other set of programming languages are the web based languages such as Java, .NET, HTML, PHP, etc. These languages allow the application to be web based and the software used is usually freely downloadable. Another set of programming languages are centred around Unix and Linux operating systems. These are usually open source but very complex and requires a dedicated teams of developers and maintenance personnel (Oââ¬â¢Brien, et all, 2005). 2. Differences in Web Based and WANââ¬â¢s programming languages. Answer: There are two broad requirements, one is the website that customers, sales staff and brokers would be using and the other is the backend application that the staff would be using to complete their accounting and other tasks. The first possibilities is having a WAN that will have dedicated terminals, which can be placed in all the required areas. The terminal will be directly connected to a central server and since it is dedicated, only the Intranet of McBride Financial Services can be accessed. This kind of a system can be seen in ATMsââ¬â¢ and would require the application to be written in C++, have the user interface written in Delphi or other front end languages. The system would be connected to a powerful database that would be able to handle hundreds of connection requests. Systems written in C++ are very stable, crashing of the system is very rare, system response is very fast and most important since it is a dedicated Intranet, hacking is not possible and can be immediately detected. But the development cost of such systems is huge, it becomes very complex, in house software programmers are required and software programming is not a core business area of McBride Financial Services. Another alternative is to have a web based system that is written in Java or .NET. These systems also requires expensive programming but after the software is implemented, it can be easily maintained by lesser expensive teams who are not skilled enough for programming but can set right small bugs and maintain the database. The case also requires a powerful database into which information can be uploaded and downloaded as required. In both possibilities, the database would remain same and only the call procedures would be different. Since security is a major concern, very strict authentication should be forced. For each connection request, the IP number of the computer should be verified and this can be done through web-based languages. Cookies should not be stored in the client computer and this prevents the possibility of another person getting information from public computers (Turban, et all, 2002). à 3. Recommendation for the application Answer: A web-based system is recommended since such a system can be accessed from anywhere in the world. A system written in Java or .NET can be implemented. Such programming languages can be easily maintained and less expensive and the work of maintenance can be outsourced as per the standard industry practice where back office operations are outsourced to reliable parties at lower costs. The database can be either Oracle or IBM WebSphere since both have connectivity to the Internet and are web servers. Such servers have the optimum speed and there are lesser instances of slow speeds. Customers can access the application from cyber cafes, K Mart and other department stores and view the choices for financial plans. An online calculator can be provided that will calculate the amount, premium, interest rates, etc. and customers can also provide their personal information. By using 128 bit encryption for authentication as used by PayPal, the chances of hackers getting into the system are very remote and this system can be stored in a central server. Employees will log into another server which will fetch data from the customers server and carry out their tasks. A robust gateway can be provided between the two servers and this further reduces hacking possibilities. To prevent the chances of crashes and data loss, it is recommended that day to day records be cached in mirror servers and this data can be written either dynamically or once in 12 hours. In the case of system crashes, data can be recovered from the mirror servers. To further prevent data loss, tape backups can be taken periodically and stored in Storage Area Networks. By providing such a system, customers and even staff can access the system from anywhere and use secure login and authentication. If there is an unusually high suspicious activity in the network, then this can be seen as a hacking attempt and the system can be stopped either manually or through programs. Web based application will ensure that all the requirements are met (Olson, 2006). à How to cite Differences in Programming Language, Papers

Personal Statement Essay Example For Students
Personal Statement Essay I used to laugh at my teachers in previous years. When I went to public school I would actually laugh at them. I thought it was so funny how they couldnt get our classes attention. It was almost like they showed for work because they had to, just to get paid. You could tell that they didnt want to be there as much as the students didnt want to. Students would miss class or not pay attention in class and it wouldnt matter. I know what that can do to a student first hand. I found myself not going to class or not paying attention because I knew that the teacher really didnt mind. After I came to Lutheran, with a rather large chip on my shoulder, I entered a new world of teaching. I actually find myself talking to my teachers about my personal life. I never new that teachers could actually care about their students. Acceptance Essays

Othello And Iago Essays (792 words) - Othello, Iago, Emilia
Othello And Iago The Different Sides of Iago's Character In Shakespeare's "Othello," Iago carefully and masterfully entraps Othello into believing that his wife, Desdemona, is having an affair with Cassio. He does this through a series of suggestions and hesitations that entice and implant images into Othello's head that lead him to his own end. More importantly, Iago gives Othello the motive to murder his own innocent wife Desdemona, satisfying Iago's huge appetite for revenge. The motive for Iago's devious plan is initially made clear in the first of three major soliloquies, in which he proclaims Othello has had an affair with his wife, Emilia: "And it is thought abroad that t'wixt my sheets/ He's done my office" (I.iii.). The irony behind this line is where he continues: "I know not if't be true/ But I, for mere suspicion in that kind; / Will do as if for surety"(I.iii.). Iago is so paranoid and insane that he will go far as murdering, and even fool a general into murdering his wife. At the same time Iago conducts a plan to take over Cassio's position as lieutenant, using Desdemona's weakness; her naivety. He disgraces Cassio by intoxicating him enough so he strikes Roderigo. Othello then discharges Cassio of his Lieutenancy when he says: "Cassio, I love thee, / But nevermore be officer of mine" (II.iii.). It was therefore understandable that he would fall to the mercy of Iago, completely unaware of the inevitable effects. Iago reveals his plan to the reader in his third soliloquy when he states: His soul is so unfettered to her love, That she may make, unmake, do what she list, Even as her appetite shall play the god With his weak function... And she for him pleads strongingly to the Moore, I'll pour this pestilence into his ear: That she repels him for her body's lust, And by how much she strives to do him good, She shall undo her credit with the Moor (II.iii.). The first instance of this plan comes to life in the scene where Iago gets Cassio drunk, but his plan begins after Othello banishes Cassio. With Cassio's reputation ruined, Iago fools Cassio by taking advantage of the fact that he is in a state in which he would do anything to get his job, position, and reputation back. Iago tells him to find Desdemona to get It back: "Our General's wife is/ now the General...She is so free, so kind, so apt, so blessed a disposition, she holds it a vice in her/ goodness not to do more than she is requested..." (II.iii.). Iago knows Desdemona is very naive. While Cassio is talking to Desdemona about asking Othello to take him back, Iago is implanting sexual images of Cassio and Desdemona in Othello's mind. The more Desdemona pleads to Othello about this matter, the more Othello believes that Cassio is sleeping with his wife. Also, the more he refuses Desdemona's wishes, the more she pleads, thereby creating even more of a conflict between the three characters. For his plan to work successfully Iago first had to carefully gain trust from all of the characters. Since he was a master of deception, this was not very difficult. His declarations of love he that he spoke so strongly of throughout the play were enough to fool everyone: "I think you think I love you..."I protest, in the sincerity of love and kindness..." obviously he deceives the characters in the play through their words:(Othello) "Thy honesty and love doth mince this matter..."my friend, thy husband, honest, honest Iago..." (Cassio)"Good night honest Iago..."I never knew a Florentine more kind and honest." The love and honesty Iago falsely shows upon Othello and Cassio makes it an impossible idea to either that Iago could ever set either of them up in such a way. The irony of all this is throughout his declarations of love, Iago is deceiving them. Iago's beloved wife, Emilia, is the one who eventually unravels her husband's plan in the scene, but it is already too late, for Iago has gained his revenge with the murder Of Desdemona by Othello. The relationship between Iago and Emilia is very vague. She doesn't seem to know her husband very well and neither does he. This is could be due to Iago's animal like attitude to love and life. He is very individualistic, concerned only of himself and his needs. He is very self-centered, and this is made clear in the first scene when he shouts at Brabantio. The feelings Iago have are common jealousy.

Determining Your perfect Position Research Paper
Determining Your perfect Position - Research Paper Example I would remain staunch about the work domains that come about under the organizational tenets (Gagliardi, 2003). I would always make it a point to remain steadfast about my resources and the employees who are there within the workplace realms. I would keep them abreast of the changes that are taking place on an organizational level and would not worry about taking risk every now and then. The strengths that would embody the basis of my leadership would comprise of my strong adherence to guidelines and rules that have been made in the organization while the weaknesses would be that I would be sensitive to emotions and sentiments of individuals working in the organization. Hence I believe this would be my perfect position because it would offer me a chance to showcase who I am and what I want to do when I become a leader. The different leadership theories include the behavior, trait, ââ¬Å"great manâ⬠, contingency, situational, participative, management and relationship theories. These theories center on different premises all in distinctive tangents. The ââ¬Å"great manâ⬠theory suggests that the capacity to become a leader is intrinsic. The trait theory emphasizes on the qualities and characteristics which are inherited by people.

Children and Homelessness Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Children and Homelessness - Essay Example For those infants that get born to a family in a state of homelessness, they may be affected by low birth weights, and this increase chance of premature death. Such a child may also fail to be immunized due to reduced healthcare access. According to Reynalds (2009), there are about 50 million children in the United States who may be said to be homeless. The author further asserts that in a majority of the states, plans that seek to cater for the plight of these homeless children appears to be quite inadequate. Homelessness has been said to come about due to a multitude of other issues that entails the abuse of drugs by a parent, alcohol, domestic violence, or even mental illness. As Raynald (2009) has noted, chances of a homeless child experiencing hunger are twice those of a child who is not faced with a similar situation. Compared to children from stable homes, their homeless counterparts have been shown to have a twelve fold likelihood of getting enrolled to foster care. Homelessness has been defined as "the condition and social category of people who lack housing, because they cannot afford (pay for), or are otherwise unable (Or uninterested) to maintain, regular, safe, and adequate shelter" (Levinson 2004). In addition, the term could also take into account individuals who often reside at a shelter for the homeless. Moreover, individual that have been housed in a given residence pending institutionalization may also be categorized as being homeless. The definition also takes into account individual that are living in a private or public place, and which has not been recognized as being "a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings" (Polakow & Cindy 2001). The Urban Development and Housing Department of the United States (HUD), has issued a definition for persons that may be considered as being "chronically homeless". According to the definition by HUD, an individual who is chronically homeless is one who may be afflicted with a condition that is disabling, has had the status of being homeless for over a period of one year, or one who has experienced that status of a homeless individual in at least four incidents for the last three years (Rollinson & Pardeck 2006). What happens when young people become homeless Young homeless children are more likely to be living apart from their parents. In an instance whereby a young child gets detached from its parents, and especially the mother the ensuing negative effects that they experience may be quite long-term this is especially critical, if the separation takes place at the formative stage of childhood development ( that is between one and five years). For the pre-school children, the status of being homeless may very well result in the developmental delays those children demonstrates. As Allen (2004) has noted, close to 75 percent of the homeless children who are below the age of five years exhibits at the very list a significant deviant developmental-wise, especially with regard to speech or impulsivity. Furthermore, homeless children have a higher likelihood of being afflicted with emotional problems. By and large, children who are homeless have a tendency to not only cry at the slightest provocation, they also papers to overreact should they
